Harken Canopy HoistOct 24, 2011
By webber Looks like it won't do the job, but works perfectly. Makes lift and storing a canopy off a full size truck a single person job. Install is straight forward if you follow the directions correctly. I am going to put a wood floor down to use as storage when the canopy is on the truck in the winter.
Good product. Making my own was a serious pain the but, and cost more in the end, so it all went back to the store.
Buy a harken, not a DIY

200# hoistNov 06, 2010
By lash772 Works Well.....However, This product is extremely labor intensive to install. I have a rooftop tent that I use this product for.
This is definitely a 2 person installation and plan on spending the better part of a day. The reason is that you will need to supply the 2x6's to install and after you get back home with your 2x6's, you will then need to go back to Lowe's to get the 8 lag screws required for the installation. In addition the calibration for lowering and raising is intensive. My rafters didn't run the same direction that the instructions use. Also, You will need a laser to make the installation easier. In summary, plan on going up and down your ladder a minimum of 50 times.
I would have probably bought the garage gator that is motorized from Costco that is the same price. Just my .02.
