4Color variationsOct 29, 2010
By David A. Ramos "Dave"
I purchased a mix of these tiles and the vented ones for my garages.

My order must have had a mix of manufacturing runs / lots because there is a significant color variance in the tiles. Some are light grey, some are dark grey, others have a purplish tint.

I was able to work around the issue by creating a design pattern. It looks OK, but not as uniform as I would have liked.

Otherwise, these tiles (and the vented ones) are really easy to work with and represent a great solution to the garage flooring problem. (See my review of the vented tiles for more details.)

3Good, but with some quality control issues.Oct 03, 2011

I was shopping for pvc flooring for my basement and had found Flexi-Tiles before this. The Flexi-Tile brand is a little expensive, about $3.31 and up a square ft. So when I found these pvc tiles for much cheaper, I ordered 18 boxes... Where in the description does it tell you that the order limit is 6 boxes? Further, you can't order more later. 6 Boxes does just over 80 sq ft, which is a pretty small room. (BTW, Walmart.com sells the tiles for exactly the same price and no order limit, but you pay taxes on them). That was a major hassle for me since Walmart shipped much slower.

Aside from the order limit, which is annoying, the tiles are a little less rigid than the Flexi-Tiles, but that is fine. These tiles claim to not trap moisture under them. That's actually a good feature for basements and Flexi-Tiles does not have a similar claim. I reality, what it means is that these tiles have a little dead space between the floor and the roof of the underside of the tile. They're basically little squared cells on the underside of the tile. That means they use less material and the tiles are more flexible/rubbery. As for the acoustic dampening... yeah, it does, but not a whole lot. All of this is somewhat trivial.

My biggest issue with these tiles, and what kept it from getting a higher rating, is a quality control issue with the surface finish. About half the tiles came as a matte type finish and the other half as semi-gloss. . Either is fine, just make it consistent because it is noticeable. Further, this was true for tiles that shipped in the same order. So, it's not like ordering all your tiles at once eliminates this problem.

On the plus side, they feel good under my feet and seem to clean up easily. The installation is super easy and they do look good once the floor is installed, except for the finish variance.

I can't speak for their durability yet and I can't drive my car over them where I have them installed, but they are slightly less rigid than the Flexi-Tile sample I got and the warranty is not as good. Flexi-Tiles offers a 25 year warranty versus 10 years for these.

Still, these are a good alternative to the commercial carpet that I took out of my basement as they're a LOT easier to clean and they didn't break the bank. When I do my garage, I'll definitely consider these, but I'll do more research about durability.

3Color MatchesOct 09, 2011

These are really great tiles. The only issue is the color. The shades vary from box to box. They fit together nicely and they clean up nicely. It's just too bad they don't stay on top of the manufacturer to get the dyes to match from week to week.

5A great productDec 22, 2011

I am using these for a high end exercise room in my home. I place the tiles over a plywood floor and the end result was greater than I had anticipated. The floor looks awesome and the heavy exercise equipment when set up laid flat and secure. The trim kit was the icing on the cake and helped to make my room second to none.

Unlike other tiles I tried, there is no odor from these tiles and they clean up easily.

It's a great choice for any exercise room!

One note I need to make is that during the installation I had some concerns and questions about how to lay out the tile. I contacted the company and the owner called me back personally and offered some great advice. Should the time come again for more floor tile, I will gladly purchase more of this product.

This was a good product for my purpose and not too difficult to install. Thankfully a friend had used, recommended and helped me install the first load. I do not understand why the numbers are limited to 3 boxes per person. That is not enough to do anything with. That order process was very frustrating as I had to set up multiple accounts to get the job done. That meant that different color lots showed up.. You'll need a sharp utility knife, rubber mallet, measure tape, straight edge and cutting surface. It takes a little longer than you'd think to get the edges trimmed properly. Think it through first and order more than you think you need. 10% probably. Good luck. It's holding up well and a good surface for a utility room or storage room.
