Description:

The Standard Grade garage floor mat handles all of your day-to-day needs for protecting and covering a floor in a garage. This garage floor covering is great for families, people who use their garage as a workroom and anyone who spends a lot of time in their garage. You will quickly find standard ribbed garage floor covering mats to be excellent for applications that require channeling of liquids and/or control of loose debris, dust, nuts 'n' bolts, or other small objects. For example, we had one customer who used his garage when loading his shotgun. He covered the top of his worktable with our Standard Grade product to help control "roll-around" of all those small shotgun shells

By now you've probably seen the standard, barely-thicker-than-Saran-wrap garage mats with the plastic edges begging to get run over and thereby breaking. This isn't that mat. The mats from $100-180 usually have a mere .20mm thickness and this mat weighs in at .50mm, over twice as thick. I did a lot of research before buying 2 of these for my double-car garage. I wanted something that would last as long as possible (5+ years, if not 10) and move with me to a bigger, 3-car garage someday. This came in at the best price point for the quality.

Ideally I would have liked them to be a full 8' wide but both vehicles (2009 Lexus IS250 and 2011 Ford Explorer) fit well within them. If the Explorer's mirrors drip water, they will still fall within the mat ridges. Which brings up the main selling point of this mat beyond the thickness, the ridges. While they won't keep fluid from leaking at the top/bottom ends, it will catch the majority (read: undercarriage) and that's all I wanted. I have a standard (read: small) 20x24 double-car garage. Last winter was the 2nd worst, ever, for where I live and I wasn't about to go this winter without some help in the garage.

Unwrapping them took longer than installing them. The full roll is heavy but as long as you can lift ~75 lbs (use your legs, not your back!) you should be fine by yourself. If not, call your neighbor over. I placed miscellaneous garage items on the ends for weights and after a full 24 hours they were almost nearly down in 30F weather at night, 50F during the day. My wife scoffed at the entire idea of garage mats but I didn't expect her to understand, she doesn't clean the garage. The very next day after installing them my dad and brother came over and both commented on how nice they were and wished they had them...... in front of my wife no less.

Looking back on this purchase I'm very happy with the quality and thickness of these mats and even though the thicker .75mm would have been nicer, I couldn't justify the big jump in price for them. I'm not a mechanic but do the normal oil/plugs/belts work on my vehicles (and motorcycles).
